Therapy in Beacon, NY
Beacon is one bridge away. Our office is on the Newburgh side of the Hudson, about 14 minutes from Beacon over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and 15 to 25 minutes from Fishkill, Wappingers Falls and Hopewell Junction.
Getting to the office
From Beacon, take I‑84 west over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. Google Maps puts it at about 14 minutes. The bridge only charges eastbound, so the toll comes on the drive home. Fishkill is about 17 minutes the same way.
From Wappingers Falls, Route 9D south to I‑84 takes about 21 minutes. From Stormville and Hopewell Junction it's I‑84 west the whole way, about 24 and 26 minutes. Heading west there are no tolls at all.
Bridge traffic can back up at rush hour. If you're booking a late afternoon session, leave a little extra time, or ask about meeting by telehealth on the days that are tight.
For people who live on one side and work on the other
A lot of people in southern Dutchess cross the river for work, or ride Metro-North to the city from Beacon. If your week already runs over the bridge, an office session can fit into the trip you're making anyway.
If it doesn't, telehealth works from anywhere in New York State, whether that's home or a quiet room at work. It's the same therapist either way.
If you ride Metro-North, a session from home before the train or after it works well. The train itself isn't private enough, even with headphones.
Insurance and cost
We take these plans. If you'd rather pay for yourself, individual sessions are $100 and couples sessions are $115.
Questions people ask
How long is the drive from Beacon?
About 14 minutes over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, going by Google Maps on a weekday late morning. There's no toll coming this way; the bridge charges eastbound, on your way home.
Do you have an office in Dutchess County?
No. Our only office is in Newburgh, just across the bridge. Telehealth works from anywhere in Dutchess.
I'm in Wappingers Falls. Is the drive worth it?
It's about 21 minutes by Google's estimate, shorter than a lot of people's drive to work. On weeks when it isn't worth it, telehealth is there.
Can I switch to telehealth on a week when the bridge is backed up?
Ask your therapist. Some are happy to move a session to telehealth on a week when traffic, weather or family gets in the way, so you keep the session instead of cancelling it.
Can I have a session from my office at work?
Yes, as long as you're in New York State and can talk privately. A closed door, a parked car or a booked meeting room all work.
